Urban Outfitters Finds (wish list)

I was looking online for christmas gifts and I came across these two items that I love from Urbanoutfitters.com 🙂

If I had to choose one I think that I would have to go with the doggy lamp but it comes at a hefty $78. I would also have a hard time spending $44 for a nifty tiger rug…. Oh well maybe I can catch one of these on sale.

Snowflakes

I decided to add-on to my (failed) blue matte nail polish. I used a dotting tool and Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish in #300 White On. At first I was going to just put one dot per nail but I decided to add more and it looked like falling snow.

I have not put a top coat on because I can see very prominent wear on the tips of all of my nails. So I will most likely be changing it soon.

Matte? Top Coat

I have seen a ton of posts on other blogs about matte nail polishes but have not bought one myself. I decided to get a matte top coat so that I could make any color that I have matte. I wanted to buy Essie Matte About You because I have heard good things, but it was sold out. I settled for Seche Vite Matte Top Coat. I decided to try it out over China Glaze Frostbite a shiny blue.

I was very disappointed with the matte effect. It has almost no effect and was way too expensive for the product that you get.

Here is a zoomed in view of the nail, I only used two coats of the matte top coat over one of Frostbite. Next time I may try a few more coats or try mixing it into the color before I apply it to my nails.

Halo Holographic Polish

I finally received my first halo nail polish from http://www.shop.llarowe.com/main.sc they have a great selection of colors but the only problem is that more often than not the polishes that I like are out of stock, but if you catch them while they are in stock they get them to you quickly. I ordered mine last saturday and I received it on Tuesday.

H707 Silver Glitter Gal 3D Holographic Nail Polish

I was so excited when I finally got my very own halo polish. It looked like it would take way too many layers to get full coverage so I layered it over one coat of a silver nail polish that came in a gift pack I purchased from Urban Outfitters last christmas. I only used two layers of the Glitter Gal Holographic Polish and it seemed to be amazing.  It looks like normal silver polish in certain light, but if you go outside it is super glittery and noticeable. When I went to take a few photos it was impossible to get a good photo, maybe it is just my camera because when I purchased it there were photos on the website….

You can see the effect slightly better in the close up:

Terrarium Ring

I was looking at one of my favorite websites  icanhascheezburger.com/ and I ran across this cute ring. It kinda reminds me of a terrarium  (those cute gardens in a jar things). They say it was Designed by Chan Oi Yau Riyo and Kwong Ho Sun Howard. And more designs can be seen at http://www.designer-daily.com/fragmented-chronicles-ring-20827 and http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/17546/shannnam-fragmented-chronicles-ring.html . I wish that I knew where I could buy one of these…

Orna-Minted

I finally got around to trying out Orna-Minted one of my new Color Club polishes from the  Scent-Suous Collection available at Sally Beauty Supply. It has tons of silver glitter in large hex and small round pieces and the scent is fresh mint.

I layered it with Do You Think I’m Tex-y? from the OPI Texas Collection for Spring/Summer 2011. I used two coats to make sure the color was even.

This is the final layered manicure with one coat of Orna-Minted:

And here is a upclose view of the glitter in the  manicure:

I Love The Lion King :)

I was poking around the internet and I came across this hilarious picture from wins.failblog.orgThis inspired me to design a Lion King themed nail polish design that will be work on as soon as I finish the wear test of my glittery green layering manicure.

Here is the scene if you have not seen the Lion King in a while.

Glittery Green Layering

I really love this glittery green color. I usually wear the Urban Outfitters Green 9 alone but the other day when I went to Sally Beauty Supply I decided to buy the new Finger Paints Art You Wondering which is a very similar color of super fine turquoise glitter in a clear polish.

Urban Outfitters Green 9 and Finger Paints Art You Wondering Bottles

I first put on a clear base coat to protect my nails for staining, it also makes it easier to take the polish off. Then I used two coats of Urban Outfitters Green 9, allowing it to dry between applications. Then when my nails were completely dry I added one coat of Finger Paints Art You Wondering. I think that the colors matched up really well, you wouldn’t think that they were two separate brands. This layering is pretty inside but when you see it in the sunlight it is dazzling.

Wish List

I’ve been looking for a holographic polish for a while now but have been unable to find any at Trade Secret or at Sally Beauty Supply. I think that I’m going to have to break down and buy one off the internet 😦 I’ve been looking and I have narrowed my choices down to three polishes from http://www.shop.llarowe.com/main.sc they have many colors but the only problem is that most of the polishes that I want are out of stock.
